Today Verizon Wireless informed us that its first Android powered smartphone, the Motorola DROID, will receive an over the air update to the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system next week. Android 2.2 adds new functionality to the Android platform and greatly improves the speed of third party applications as well as the web browser. Sprint announced just yesterday that its HTC EVO 4G will also receive a Froyo update next week. Read the full story here.
