Well the first two days were difficult but now things are starting to improve. I have tidied up my homescreens to my liking and installed more apps that i have been used to on my iphone. I also have started to see some of the standard benefits of the Note over the iphone. Lets be clear though. The devices are very different in many ways. And thanks to some much needed help, my dock icons are now changed to my liking.
What i love is the endless customizing you can can achieve with android. You really can have the information right on your home screen as you like. Also, I have found if you don't like a keyboard, you can change it. Every aspect is changeable. However, I don't intend to change anything, but try and use the phone in its default state. I have started using the swype keyboard, and on the bigger screen it's a joy to use. Can't decide if I prefer qwerty or swype. Creating folders is far more flexible. Each folder shows 6 mini icons of the first 6 apps plus gives you a number of how many apps sit inside that folder. Very neat. I can't work out how you can move the app around inside a folder though.
On the app front, I looked at my iPhone and then checked out the android market. I now have most of my fav apps on my Note.
I had ordered a 32gb memory card. This arrived today so later I will be installing this and copying across my photos, music and films. I have kept app installs to the phone main memory. Some of the larger games will have to be saved on the memory card though.
Apart from the larger screen, I have noticed more benefits of the Note software. Word documents. I can insert pictures with ease. That's because the Note comes with Polaris office. The S Planner calendar app is fantastic. So much real estate to see what's happening. Also, video and photo editing is included as standard. Also, the camera app has many many options, so unlike the iPhone I don't need to buy twenty photo apps just to edit a photo. Actually I had bought a long time ago 1 photo app, Picsay Pro. This has far more options than any apple app. Also voice integration is far better on the Note. You can navigate, search, launch apps, send messages, create memos, google info on places , set up events etc. And voice recognition is far more accurate than Siri.
The Note has motion control options, which can zoom in, mute the phone, take screenshots and more, all of which I still have to learn. More on that tomorrow. Then there is the S Pen and all that can do.
My verdict so far is that you do need to spend time learning the Note and android but as you do, you realise how powerful this beast is. I will add that I think the typing speed on my iPad is far faster than the note at present. Time will tell if that improves. So it looks like I might keep my iPad for now, but my iPhone looks like its on borrowed time.
